Silly Band Chic

My 12 year old sister (Indya) is one of the most naturally chic people I know. She doesn't over do any outfit, her staples are skinny jeans, black tank tops and focused accessories. When I was 12 I wore anything with an embroidered butterfly or flower on it!

I was so impressed when I saw how she styles her silly bands! Somedays she goes warm colors on the right and cool on the left, others she selects only a few, but on this day she went with a full rainbow gradient.

She knows what she is comfortable in and what highlights her assets. And naturally, I am completely in awe of her confidence and poise.

Gap Denim

A few weeks back I was invited to buy a few pieces of GAP denim and style them for the Gap Style Stream website. I was given a $200 gift card the The Gap via Burdastyle and now the styled photos are up. Looking back I probably should have gone with some of these photos, opposed to my white wall photos, but oh well you live and you learn!

Shiny Pieces

I found this beautiful black linen with one glittery side at Joann's on the clearance rack so I bought the remainder. I knew immediately I wanted to use it for a design I had been plotting. I made this little number to go out dancing, because I have no "going out" clothes! Although this may not be a good idea because the linen wrinkles so easily!

I completed this mini shift dress with a blind hem and used bias tape to finish the arm and neck holes.

I modified pattern R (i think) form the Stylish Dress Book vol 3 for a basic tank pattern and modified.

I am so happy to finally be sewing for myself again since the Burdastyle Book Project!

I got this beauty at the salvation army for 25% off of it $5 price take yesterday! I am so in love with it!!

Summertime views...

I should update

I definitely feel I should update on my Burdastyle Book progress.

This week I printed, cut and altered my given pattern. I also have cut my fabric, I was at first disappointed about the fabric I was sent, but I have now come to terms with it. I am all about textiles in the majority of my designs, but this time I hope the design is modern enough to update this drab textile!

I have sewn together the body of my design and gathered the lining, now I just have a few detail decisions to make firm and finishings!

Finishing is always the most time consuming part for me! maybe I will update with a pic soon...

Fashion has a Fever for Peru

These 3 recent editorial/campaigns all reminded me so much of my recent trip. The first 2 were shot in Peru, while the last is more inspired by trekking, which certainly took me back to my excursions!

Layers, hats, back packs and heels! I wish my trip was half as glamourous!!
